Did you know? Winter Solstice

The Winter Solstice is when the sun appears to stand still in the sky when it reaches the Tropic of Cancer. Sol meaning sun and sistere means to stand still.

It marks the shortest day of the year and is celebrated as the following days ushers in more Light on Earth and humanity. The length of the day is only 7 hours 50 minutes long during the solstice. The sunset also arrives a little later on this day because solar noon occurs a bout 10 min earlier.

The winter solstice symbolizes rebirth, renewal and the return of the Light. That is why at Astara we harness the energy of this day for goodwill, joy, peace and love for all humanity.
