The Flame of Life in Book Form

It’s with great pride that we’ll soon be offering Frances Paelian’s important and well-received series, The Flame of Life, which she wrote for Astara in 1958. You may be familiar with Frances’ artwork, along with that of Ted Lilienstein, throughout the Degree Lessons. In addition to varied artistic talents, Frances was also an accomplished writer and along with her father, scientist and metaphysician, Garabed Paelian, produced a number of treatises during Astara’s early years. Like the Degree Lessons, these works are as valid and valuable now as then. The Flame of Life is a flow of teachings leading the reader through a comprehensive understanding of the infinite source and infinite use of energy.

The following words speak to the quality of the writing in these two excerpts from Chapter One, “The Fires of the Body and the Universe” ~~

“We are assured by the Masters that our entire lives are a conscious or unconscious manipulation of energies and forces. We can only achieve our dominion over the material world by gaining knowledge of these forces. Present day physicists investigating the atom are now concurring with the Yogins of old that Electric Fire is the basis of all life. Only as we learn to work with the Triple Fires that form the basis of the entire Creation can we achieve dominion over them. We are insolubly united with the Fires of Space, the sun and the extra-systemic forces. Even in our own bodily systems we grow by the raising, transmutation and manipulation of fire.”

And ~

“Between the First and the Fourth Initiations the separations of etheric matter between all the Centers are consumed. Nothing then can impede the passage of the flame of physical life within, which rising to the head invokes the White Fire of Spirit from above. In this Pentecostal experience, man achieves his liberation. Forces of matter and Spirit meet. The Solar Angels, representing the third kind of fire, may now withdraw, their mission completed. Man has achieved his liberation through the Triple Fires. Now he enjoys an unimpeded relationship with the entire universe.”
